The King is Coming
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your
heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:28.
Christ had bidden His people watch for the signs of His advent and rejoice
as they should behold the tokens of their coming King. "When these things
begin to come to pass," He said, "then look up, and lift up your heads; for
your redemption draweth nigh." He pointed His followers to the budding trees
of spring, and said: "When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own
selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these
things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand" (Luke
21:28, 30, 31).
But as the spirit of humility and devotion in the church had given place to
pride and formalism, love for Christ and faith in His coming had grown cold.
Absorbed in worldliness and pleasure seeking, the professed people of God
were blinded to the Saviour's instructions concerning the signs of His
appearing. The doctrine of the Second Advent had been neglected; the
scriptures relating to it were obscured by misinterpretation, until it was,
to a great extent, ignored and forgotten. Especially was this the case in
the churches of America. The freedom and comfort enjoyed by all classes of
society, the ambitious desire for wealth and luxury, begetting an absorbing
devotion to money-making, the eager rush for popularity and power, which
seemed to be within the reach of all, led men to center their interests and
hopes on the things of this life, and to put far in the future that solemn
day when the present order of things should pass away.
When the Saviour pointed out to His followers the signs of His return, He
foretold the state of backsliding that would exist just prior to His second
advent. There would be, as in the days of Noah, the activity and stir of
worldly business and pleasure seeking--buying, selling, planting, building,
marrying, and giving in marriage--with forgetfulness of God and the future
life. For those living at this time, Christ's admonition is: "Take heed to
yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you
unawares." "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted
worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand
before the Son of man" (Luke 21:34, 36) (The Great Controversy, pp. 308,
309).
We are to contend most earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints.
. . . We are now to unify, and . . . prepare the way for our coming King.
Let us increase in a knowledge of the truth, and render all excellence and
glory due to Him who is one with the Father. Let us seek most earnestly for
the heavenly anointing, the Holy Spirit (Medical Ministry, p. 22).

Sabbath School Lesson - Unnatural Confrontation |
| Posted: 01 Dec 2009 05:14 AM PST Read Numbers 22:22–34 and answer the following questions: * What symbolic significance might there be to the fact that the dumb animal was able to see the angel of the Lord and that Balaam, a supposed prophet of God, couldn't? See Zeph. 1:17, Matt. 15:14, Rev. 3:17.       The animal was obedient to God but the prophet was not obedient    to God. Though animals do not possess the intelligence of humans    this animal still possessed enough intelligence to obey God.       The prophet was blinded to what was in plain sight because of    His disobedience to what God wanted Him to do. When we refuse to    be obedient that which is in plain sight often becomes hidden.    * Read Balaam's first response to the donkey after it spoke to him. Think about what was happening. What does Balaam's irrational response reveal about the true nature of his heart and his desire for wealth? After all, what would most people do were an animal to start conversing with them?       When you choose to Go against the will of God then you are open    to deception and delusion. This reminds me of story of Jonah, he    was more willing to be thrown off the ship than to simply go    where God commissioned him to God.       The simple fact is that Balaams senses were clouded because of    his disobedience to God. * How does this story reveal God's grace, even to Balaam, despite his course of action?       This shows that God is very merciful unto us. God is in the    business of saving people. God is a professional at saving    people and He will do whatever it takes to ensure your salvation.       Even if God has to cause a donkey to talk in order to get you    you understand something he will.We serve an awesome God he    loves us so much.    In what ways, even the most subtle ways, do you find yourself fighting against the Lord? That is, you're determined to do what you want even though you know it's not what God wants. How can you overcome this dangerous attitude?       The best thing to do is to simply let go and let God. God really    knows what is best for our lives. It is very hard when you    have moved in a direction for so long. I believe that God will    help us just has He helped ballam , but we must listen.       It takes courage , it takes commitment and it takes trust.    Prayer: Today Father if anyone is struggling with making a decision to do something your way I pray you will grant them freedom from rebellion. Father if You need to send a donkey to speak to them please do, but please turn them back to You. Thank you for your grace , thank You for Your love. In Jesus name amen. |

"When All Is Said and Done"
Summary: If fallen angels really started all the problems in our universe, then why do we seem to be the ones getting punished for it? What will ultimately happen to Lucifer and the fallen angels, and what prophetic information can we glean from this chapter of Daniel?
Verse: "And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den."
—Daniel 6:24
